Hi, firstly, please give as much information as possble (type of location, location and include a scale, a ruler is best - in all photos). This looks like a flint nodule (harder than steel), but of what I'm really not sure (if it is a fossil at all).

Definitely a worn flint echinoid, a heart urchin, with the top half fractured off.
