Went to another beach and am just learning the basics. What's this? The first has diamond shapes in it. They are both about the size of my finger. At that size, the first one is likely to be a piece of a Chaetetes colony (a kind of calcareous sponge, once thought to be a tabulate coral).

The second is a longitudinal section through a piece of crinoid stem, made of a stack of disc shaped columnals.
