Hello, up to five years ago the chance of finding a meg in Antwerpen was good; alas this has changed.
We used to be able to search trough sand wich had been dredged out of the docks, that were deepened. At the side of the A 12, opposite to the small airfield at the village of Hoevenen there still is an enormous heep of sand with teeth, but it has been grassed over and one is not allowed to break the grass in order to search; hefty fines have been handed out to people that ignored this ban. Only when this sand is sold and removed it will be possible to search without the risk of fines. Sofar there are no signs that the sand is going to be removed. Exept in spring, it is still possible to walk the surface in order to look for teeth exposed by the wind, but expect no big numbers of teeth and the chance of finding a meg is remote. In these 5 years I only found one. No happy story, but this is how it is... greetings, Bert
the search is as valuable as the finds...
