Found this domed piece at Highcliffe at the weekend. I'm struggling to ID it. Any help much appreciated.

Looks like a fragment of a bivalve. Very worn. Colin knows that area better than I do.

Hi, how hard is the specimen - what will scatch it - thunbnail, copper coin steel? I also need a close up but in focus photo of the other side. Having said this, with these photos I don't think it's a fossil, more like chert.
