Hi,
If you have a 'smart' phone try downloading this free Natural History Museum app, interactive map/geological map of UK with access to quite an extensive fossil database.

https://www.nhm.ac.uk/take-part/identify-nature/fossil-explorer-app.html

As for books I've found the 3 NHM British Fossils Palaeozoic/Mesozoic/Cenozoic books quite useful.

Pete.

Pete's suggestions are definitely the best for an initial comprehensive compendium of the commoner British fossils.

If you want to delve deeper, the Palaeontological Association field guides to fossils might help as well.  Unfortunately, the series is in its infancy so does not cover completely the fossiliferous strata of Britain.  You can peruse the list here (The Kimmeridge Clay edition is in the press)  https://www.palass.org/publications/field-guides-fossils
The Oxford Clay one can be downloaded online for free, to give you a good idea of the quality of these publications. https://b-ok.cc/book/909127/7ce7b6
