These (circled) areas intrigued me. The bottom has lost the 'brown' substance out of it but the impression is still there. Any ideas?

Hello me again,

I picked this up a while back and have made the mistake of forgetting where! I'm almost certain it was at Hock Cliff but could be Lyme. I'm thinking it looked like the impression of a fin? there is also a little brown shape mid left and the same shape impression low right? Again being new to this I could be completely wrong,

Many thanks for your help

Hi Sal,
looks like an impression of a 'scallop' type bivalve.
Cheers, Bill

Here's a close-up. I still think bivalve.

I agree no doubt that the large structure is a bivalve, the black splodge though does kind of look like a vert in longitudinal view. However the ribs of the bivalve could be creating the septa like structures within the black splodge (like the radiating section within a fish vert)
