Hello everyone! I'd like a little advice on a fossil I have if possible please. I've had it for years. I think it's an ammonite but I'm not sure. It's very heavy and large. Are fossils actually worth anything or are they only worth what people will pay for them i.e. collectors etc. I have attached some pictures for you all. I look forward to your advice and what you could tell me about it. Many thanks in advance. It's certainly an ammonite. And I'm sure somebody on this forum will be able to put a ("Latin") name to it. Do you know where it came from?

As with anything it's worth exactly what people are prepared to pay for it - and no more!

Hello Holly and welcome to the forum. What a great fossil! Did you find it or was it purchased? If we know where it was found we can probably give you an ID. Secondly, is it polished on the 'cut' side?
