Hello.  I found this bone in the pebbles deposed by the incoming tide on Southwold beach.
I’ve looked at similar bones online and it looks to me like a foot bone from a large prehistoric animal but for fear of sounding stupid and getting too carried away I’ll hold my tongue and wait for an expert identification.
It’s broken in half lengthways fortunately so both end joints are visible.
It feels like stone against my teeth.

I’d really appreciate any information anyone might have on the origins of the bone.

I hope the photos are clear enough.

Thanks,  Richard.

it does indeed look like bone, probably pleistocene.  Not sure what animal though, horse maybe.

Take it to Ipswich museum they may identify it better.
