OK - I will, literally, tread carefully.

I'm hoping to find the trace fossil mentioned here http://www.discussfossils.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=4053&title=strange-track-like-fossil-the-valley-of-the-rocks

But a spirifer or two would be nice also ...

I have a chance for a few hours collecting in north Devon fairly soon. Looking at the fossils guides the Valley of the Rocks and Lee Bay seem closest to where I'll be.

Am I likely to find much here? There aren't a lot of finds shown in the guides. Is there anywhere better I could head? I'd like to (finally!) collect some Devonian fossils.

There's not a lot of stuff to find here in Devon. I went to the Valley of the Rocks some years ago and didn't find much, a few shells that weren't amazingly preserved. Mind you, it did start to hammer with rain, so we didn't have long. Be careful on the slopes, the goats manage it OK, but it's quite precarious for humans.
