Hi Guys

Completely new to this. Found this while out metal detecting. Not sure if it is a fossil or not. The stone is flint. Any help gratefully received.

Good example of a fossil sponge, in a Cretaceous flint nodule.  The flint is a secondary silica mineral, which formed preferentially around a nucleus ie.the sponge, which was made of silica spicules, which lived in the chalk sea around 80-90 million years ago
