Hi all was a busy week end at work I uncovered a few hundred blocks of limestone full of fossils and unusual stones, also what maybe large teeth/bones amongst other stuff (I could be wrong) I'll search when had a clean up and post them , these 3 I put in my pocket as felt something unusual about them, approx 3" height  the middle has silver very clearly showing, the back has silver veins but are under the skin not like the front, I've cleaned and scraped and the silver is not coming off,  does any one now please are they are anything interesting or just junk 😁 thanks in advance  Click image for larger version - Name: PicsArt_07-06-10.54.34.jpg, Views: 45, Size: 479.91 KB

Accurate ID's of rocks require physical/chemical tests + thin sections + microscopy etc but here's some suggestions anyway 1. looks as if it was molten and flowed at some point so maybe colourful slag from some industrial process...not sure why the pebble is so well rounded though 2. Quartzite pebble with mystery silver mineral. 3 Iron oxide+clay mineral pebble.

Thank you it amazes me the spectrum of different things found around fossils,  so many different and unusual items I find it truly fascinating I always wanted to visit the Jurassic coast in my younger days but never did, I appreciate very much the information I'm going to start labelling things as so much information to absorb, another question sorry to be a pain can you recommend any good reference books or apps that can be accurately used to identify things, and how do you and others now so much? Is it through hobby self taught,  study etc, many thanks

This free NHM fossil app for your phone might help, It'll tell you what the bedrock is wherever you happen to be and what fossils you could 'theoretically' find.

As for books see what they have down at the local library assuming they haven't shut it down.
