Apologese for my ignorance but I am trying to suprise my husband. He has a lovely fossil. I think it's an micraster echinoid (?!) A white heart shaped round ish thing. He adores it. I am trying to find a reputable UK company to mount/frame it. Can anyone advise?
Best wishes,
Heidi

I think your best bet is to find a box frame locally making sure the size is correct, and research how to do it yourself. I would not want to post a prized fossil in the post.
Once in a box you would not be able to see all of it so a stand may be better. Which would be easier to find. Trusting others is up to you.

I'd suggest a caliper stand for an echinoid. Take a look here: https://www.etsy.com/uk/market/caliper_stand

WOW Pete, not seen these before!
Hello Heidi and welcome to the forum. Pete's suggestion looks to be a great idea, especially as if fully prepped (cleaned of all the chalk). you should be able to get a species name.

Any reputable bespoke framer should be able to offer suggestions for mounting and make a bespoke size/depth frame to show off the echinoid. A museum-quality foam or similar can support the fossil in the frame without any harm at all to the fossil, which is key. Make sure you ask for a framing solution which is reversible.

Just a thought. How about a perspex box. It would protect the fossil, you could even make a mock up sea bed to seat it on.
