Good afternoon all

My son found this on a South Wales beach around 10 years ago. It's been sat on a shelf in his bedroom since then but we've not know what it is. I'm assuming its some kind of fossil? Any ideas?

Hi, You'd think it would be a fossil but it seems to be a piece of banded flint. This is an interesting thing in its own right and its formation is something of a mystery still.
