Hi

I found this on the beach in Margate.

Is this thing a fossil or a rock? It's as solid and heavy as a rock/stone...

Any help will be appreciated

Hello and welcome to the forum. I think this a piece of water worn flint. It will have formed around 70 - 85  million years ago within the chalk.

Thanks @prep01 !

Sorry, we are new to fossils and my young daughter found this on the beach. Is this flint something natural or man made? If you have any links to more information about this kind of thing that would be great!

Thanks again

Rick

I have several good links, but they are on my old laptop at the moment - I will get them, but wiki will do for now.
