Nice finds Bob. You need the Pal ass book Plant fossils of the British coal measures which allows you to home in on ID's through a process of elimination.

Ah, I'm still using Chaloner and Collinson's key, I  think I need to get the Palass one.
I did see a textbook in Blackwells in Oxford re Carboniferous plants but it was very nearly in three figures >.<

I managed to get the paperback new for £12 from amazon. I don’t now if I was just lucky,because all the other copies are over £100 for some reason.
