It's very semi circular like an ammonite but totally different to the ammonite on the side, and I've never seen an ammonite that black or with that texture

Hi Sarah, I suspect it is an ammonite but for some reason the chambers have filled with a darker mineral/sediment and the external shell has been eroded away. I don't think it's bone.

Hello Sarah and welcome to the forum. I think I agree with Pete, I can't think what else it could be. The only way to really find out is to have it prepped (cleaned). Just one more thing - could you please use a scale (a ruler is best) in all photos - it helps a lot!

Sarah, chin up (metaphorically) as you need to look at the ground and keep looking - you have found a fossil, just a bit of one! What is more there is at least one more fossil in that pebble now that I have enlarged and tweaked some of your photos. As I mentioned please use a scale! I will post some / an annotated photo later.
