That is lovely and a really good size too! I would think that its been sourced directly from the chalk in relatively recent times as it still retains its blue/grey patina colour. Flint casts from the clay with flints come out a muted white, biege or brown colour. I don't  know your geology but the Epsom downs are chalk and not far away.

Well, I've been busy digging out a pond recently in my garden. Digging down 2ft reveals a deep layer of London Clay, which is laced with chalk fragments and flint. By chance I saw a piece of flint that was of unusual shape, and after a quick rinse, it was as i suspected a perfect flint sea urchin. It was found in my garden in Epsom, Surrey.

haha, yes my topsoil is quite a mixture lol. thats another nice garden found urchin too. would you say that mine was river deposited? The River mole which flows through the chalk south downs is a fair distance from me though...
