Hello,
I was at Lavernock a few days ago and happened to find this bone. I think it's bone but am not sure what it's from. If anyone could ID the bone it would be great. I don't think it's ichthyosaur. Might be plesiosaur or mammalian. Although haven't heard of any pleistocene deposits around Lavernock.  Any suggestions would be. Much appreciated. IMG_20200321_144002.jpg

Interesting bone! Just to clarify, ichthyosaurs and plesiosaurs aren’t dinosaurs.

Yeah, sorry I formed my title in a confusing way. English ain't my first language.
What I meant is that "could this be dinosaur bone?"
I go down to lavernock quite regularly and have found quite a lot of ichthyosaur bones and bits in the past. This bone doesn't really match anything i've found.
Anyway thanks for the reply and any suggestions would be great!

Dinosaur would be incredibly rare and there’s only a few specimens from Lavernock known to date. I’m not saying it’s not possible, I’m just saying that it’s highly unlikely. A more experienced member could give you an exact ID.

I can’t give an ID but I’d say Pleistocene is more likely from the appearance. I’ve had Pleistocene material from lavernock and it is known. I seem to recall the deposits are offshore?

Ah ok, that makes sense. Thanks for the reply!
Back in January I found something similar. I'll try and post it here too. I found it in the same sort of area as this one, so perhaps they come from the same animal.
