We found this stone in a river in SE England and wonder whether it might be something, other than normal stone. DSCF2991.jpg

It weights over 3kg and looks like an egg, with several layers of shell, but also resembles a stone rose bud!

Might anyone be able to help, please?

Many thanks.

Hello Maffy and welcome to the forum. This looks like a concretion which is Iron - rich which would account for the weight. Could you say where it was found so that we can check the geology?
