Hi guys, my name is Adam and I'm from devon in the Uk. My local spots are charmouth, Lyme Regis and seatown.

I just joined the fossil forum, but wanted to join a uk forum as well
I often collected fossils on holiday but as I have moved to the south coast I have started it up again.
At the moment I mainly just go after pyrite fossils along the beachs. Although I would like to start trying for fossils in nodules.

The other day I went to charmouth after some rough weather and managed to find lots of material on te beach to go through.
I came back with lots of specimens but nothing amazing. Although I did get a nice peice of pyritized wood and a nice bit of crinoid fan

What I was most intrigued about was a large part of a HUGE pyrite ammonite I found. It's the size of a plate. It is quite encrusted though. I can't identify the species either. Not seen an ammonite with spines around each coil before.
A small part of the crust has chipped away showing that the fossil has a lovely glossy iridescent finish.
How would be best to clean this up?

Any information would be great :)
Many thanks
Adam
