Hi

New here, first post (hello by the way!)

I was recently on holiday in Nice in the south of France and I was struck by the uniformity of the pebbles on the beach at Nice.  The vast majority of the pebbles were grey and flattened, perfect for skimming, and I was wondering what the stone was?  I've searched online in both English and French but I can't seem to find anything specific.

Thanks a lot

Look on the net for the paper "The Skimming Stones of Southern France" by Alec Flatstone, its quite rare so you may find it hard to find.. for the physics side of it try Barnes wallis.
But Alec Flatstone is the geologist.
