Hello, as every period has it`s one animals, the paleontologists decided an animal in one period had to have another name when it survived into another period; so the same animal will have different names in different periods, so they could understand what precisely we are talking about.

Hello, yes, Pleurotomaria is from the Jurassic; as it happens, I found one yesterday in the Pliensbachian shales of the Causses, southern France.
