Hi,

I found this bone (I’m pretty sure it’s bone?) last November at Ravenscar.  It was found loose on the north shore.  It doesn’t look like anything from a ichy/plesi/croc so I can’t figure out what creature it could be from.  (I can’t make head nor tail of it, excuse the pun!)  Please could someone advise?  It has a tiny pyritised bivalve on it, and there is residual matrix in the centre on both sides.

Thanks.

I'm gonna say this isn't bone, i can't see any suitable texture.

I think it could just be a Pyritised nodule.

Thanks for this.  It's intriguing how it has eroded into such a shape.
