Having read that Redcar produces amounts of worn fossil material we went to Redcar/Marske to have a look for ourselves

Ok there is a lot of bits on the beach and in the piled pebbles much of which is indeed very worn but there are also some true gems to be picked out if you sift through slowly

have put some images of a few of the better examples that we kept below

1. Ammonites

Cheers Guys

I'm not claiming that these are the best fossils in the world, but it does go to show that locations described as producing mostly rolled fossils and fragments can also turn up trumps and shouldn't be ignored...besides parking is good and access to the beach is easy (useful for me all togged up in Motorcycle leathers etc)

and a half hours walk (or so) down the coast takes you past Marske to Saltburn and the exposed (But HARD) Lias there.

Hi Chris,

I lived in Saltburn for a couple of years and enjoyed mornings before work at Marske.

Cheers
