Please can anyone help identify this large fossil (?) found at Saltwick Bay, Whitby, N Yorks at the end of August this year? Found among loose rocks about 200m out away from the cliffs. Is it vertebrae? Or is it just geological and weirdly shaped?? Hello Annabel and welcome to the forum. I'm not sure what you have here, but it it could well be bony. It seems to have some modern organisms over the nodule which is maki!ng it difficult to make much out. I would suggest get it prepped (cleaned up). There are several preparators in the Yorkshire coastal area (assumimg that's where you live).

Thank you, I’ll see about taking it somewhere. I’m actually in Warwickshire, not Yorkshire.
